The Kickstarter project I have my eye on this week is T.A.B.L.E.! It’s an expo (or, more specifically, Tabletop And Boardgame Learning Expo) designed to attract non-gamers. Why? Well, I’ve been part of many different organizations and communities (gaming and otherwise) over the years. If a group refuses to attract (or allow in as the case is sometimes) new members, then the group is doomed to fail. People move on from the hobby or community. People die. People retire. People get tired of the mess (if it’s a mess) and quit. It happens.
This means we need new gamers. Someday we won’t be here to carry the torch. It’s a certain inevitability. It’s unavoidable. We need new gamers. Period.
The folks behind T.A.B.L.E. are here to help out in this manner. They’re currently sitting at $8,439 out of a $10,000 goal with 16 days left to go for raising the final few dollars they need.
I can’t make the expo they’re hosting, but I can certainly afford to throw $10 in the kitty when pay day hits in five days. What about you? Can you afford a few bucks to help out our hobby, industry, and community?
(I’m going to lay on a rare guilt trip here….)
Can you afford not to?
